Left Carlsbad NM this morning and traveled 161 miles to Fort Davis Texas. This is off the beaten path and we traveled through some great country on the way. This fort was first established in 1852 to protect travel on the Butterfield Stage route from San Antonio TX to El Paso TX. It is one of the best preserved forts in the southwest.
